|
A digital garden and online installation was the culmination of collaboration and thought between artists in the Unearth Collective virtual residency through 2023 between Paul and international artists. Unearth is based in California and Illinois.
|
First Exhibition was Paul Vernon's mixed media debut solo exhibition devised and co-curated with John Coster at the Documentary Media Centre featuring instant film, digital photography of different photo series and film The Divine Visions of Hildegard von Bingen.
The fun and versatility with AI generated visuals has been astounding. Giving birth to new stories, ideas and worlds. Originally intended as works, playing with new technology, for Captain Cowboy, the new narratives and AI exploration will now have its home at worldsofAI.com where it will grow as its own thing.
Captain Cowboy brings together Paul Vernon's projects of photography, internationally selected award-winning films, original books and other mediums under one label as an odyssey of work and output. Paul is currently part of the Unearth Art Collective (a small group of invited artists from US, UK and UAE) working towards a digital garden, having discussed thoughts and philosophies around technology and nature derived from meetings through 2023. Within this framework and as a result of the collective, Paul is currently finishing a new film Spirit, as his contribution and result.

I started Captain Cowboy a few years ago when I was rummaging through my unpublished photography. After realising the value of the full breadth of my visual work, I began writing, categorising and sequencing the images creating new projects in the process. Initially out of that came the Candlelight Flavoured Bubblegum book series; with the inaugural artwork The Light That's Lost photobook self-published in 2020. In 2021 I published the second, about the space around us and architecture, Strange Space. In 2022 I had my debut solo show of mixed media First Exhibition at the Documentary Media Centre as an installation incorporating my films, books and digital / instant film photography.
Vortex Museum is currently in its BETA stage of building, conceiving and testing. Below is art created with Gencraft AI and designed within Adobe to explore and express tone / authorship of this versatile project.
The short film Spirit is in post-production. It was generated whilst in online residency of the global Unearth art collective with selected artists from UAE, North America and UK in various disciplines. The film was written/filmed by Paul Vernon in London, collaborating with Kelsey Smith. The culmination of the collective was the launch in January 2024 of a digital community garden and installation of work.
First Exhibition was the debut CapCow event and Paul Vernon solo show. A main feature were the Watercolours photo series printed on Hahnemühle Photo Rag available to purchase on here in the shop. It consisted of curated photography wall "grids", books to look at, hanging instant film pictures and a film installation of The Divine Visions of Hildegard Von Bingen.
