Captain Cowboy brings together Paul Vernon's projects of photography, original books and small archive of internationally selected award-winning films under one label as his odyssey of artistic output. Paul is currently part of the Unearth Art Collective (a small group of invited artists from US, UK and UAE) working towards a digital garden, having discussed thoughts and philosophies around technology and nature derived from meetings through 2023. Within this framework and as a result of the collective, Paul is currently finishing a new film Spirit, as his contribution and result.

I started Captain Cowboy a few years ago when I was rummaging through my unpublished photography. After realising the value of the full breadth of my visual work, I began writing, categorising and sequencing the images creating new projects in the process. Initially out of that came the Candlelight Flavoured Bubblegum book series; with the inaugural artwork The Light That's Lost photobook self-published in 2020. In 2021 I published the second, about the space around us and architecture, Strange Space. In 2022 I had my debut solo show of mixed media First Exhibition at the Documentary Media Centre as an installation incorporating my films, books and digital / instant film photography.  [re-write]
