I am a London based visual artist from Leicester; director / editor / shooter of film works and photographer. I have made films of dance, documentary, experimental and fiction that have been selected places such as London Short Film Festival at the ICA, BAFTA, San Diego Comic-Con and LACMA. I've made film commissions for Filthy Lucre supported by Arts Council England and travelled to Denmark for film commissions twice including for the Danish Arts Foundation.
My primary focus and vocation had been filmmaking, but a few years ago I began assessing my unpublished photography I'd been building since young and mixing with new work / thinking I consequently developed and started making the Candlelight Flavoured Bubblegum series of books. The first volume was self-published in January 2020; The Light That's Lost is a memoir, personal investigation and photobook. This has ushered in a new phase of artistic work for me into bookmaking / design / photography, working with physical mediums such as instant film and expanding further out of filmmaking in what I create. Captain Cowboy is the consolidation of my work. Bringing it all together as a growing world of films, books and pieces. Stay connected with CapCow on Instagram the destination I show my work and curate a gallery of assorted treasures.
In addition to my efforts and accomplishments as an artist, I've also work in various roles the last few years for TV commercials, short films, red carpet premieres and feature documentaries; including as a first assistant director (paulvernonfilmmaker.com) and have directed other work such as promotional and bespoke videos. I have a Bachelor of Arts (2:1) degree and MA (passed with merit) degree, both in film production specialising as a director from The Northern Film School as part of Leeds Beckett University, graduating in 2010 and 2012.
